Recognizing abuse is the first step
Abuse is a pattern of behavior used by one partner to maintain power and control over another partner in an intimate relationship.
These behaviors can include:
- Isolation from friends and family
- Emotional abuse
- Monitoring
- Controlling finances
- Physical and sexual assault
People of any race, age, gender, sexuality, religion, education level, or economic status can be a victim — or perpetrator — of domestic violence. Find out more about recognizing the warning signs of abuse.
Reporting to police
The UWPD investigates reports of domestic and relationship violence and abuse that occur on the UW Seattle campus and provides resources to survivors. If the abuse occurred off campus, we will help you contact the right law enforcement agency.
Protection order
A Domestic Violence Protection Order is a civil order you can request from the court to protect you from your abuser. Learn more about Domestic Violence protection orders.
