Safety escort services

Husky SafeTrip 206-685-9255

Husky SafeTrip (formerly Husky NightWalk) provides safe vehicle escort at night with a uniformed security guard for students, faculty and staff. Use Husky SafeTrip to safely get from campus to your home, to your car or to another UW building within the SafeTrip service area.

SafeTrip isn’t available for routine transportation needs — please use public transit or a rideshare service to get to or from the grocery store, restaurants or other destinations.

Guards can also assist with building and office lockouts (proper identification required) and jump start dead car batteries.

Name change

UWPD changed the name of Husky NightWalk to Husky SafeTrip to help students and employees better understand the service, which is a ride with a UWPD security guard, not a walk.

Hours

6:30 p.m. — 2 a.m. daily EXCEPT University holidays or when the University suspends operations

Husky SafeTrip service area boundaries

The area Husky SafeTrip covers includes all UW Seattle buildings and UW’s campus. See a UW campus map.

Off campus, the service area borders are Roosevelt Way NE to the west, NE Ravenna Boulevard to the north, 25th Avenue NE to the east (does not include University Village) and 45th Street to the south.

SafeTrip Service Area

Destinations

Use Husky SafeTrip to safely get from campus to your home, to your car or to another UW building within the SafeTrip service area.

Due to the volume of requests, we cannot provide escorts from one off-campus, non-UW location to another off-campus, non-UW location. The safety escort is not meant to meet an individual’s routine transportation needs or serve as a ride program for inclement weather. For your safety, we cannot provide medical escorts.

How to use Husky SafeTrip

  • Dial 206-685-9255 when ready for a safety escort from a UW location to your home, to your car or to another UW building within the SafeTrip service area.
  • Advise the dispatcher which building you are calling from or an address. Make sure you are standing outside and are visible for the Husky SafeTrip guard.
  • Have your UW student, staff or other photo identification ready.

NightRide

NightRide is a U-PASS sponsored shuttle service for students, faculty, and staff. Passengers can board the NightRide from any one of eight on-campus stops and be dropped off at any requested location within the two shuttle zones. Schedules are prominently displayed at all stops, and schedules are available at information kiosks around campus. Wheelchair-accessible shuttles service both zones.

Note that NightRide is not available during the summer.

Call 206-685-3146 or visit the site linked below for more information about this and other UW shuttle services.
