The University of Washington Police Department works in collaboration with UW Seattle departments to provide support for hundreds of special events every year including athletic events, dignitary visits, dances, concerts, lectures and major public demonstrations that require traffic, security and crowd control. Attendance ranges from a few hundred to over 70,000 for Husky football games.
The UW Police special events coordinator evaluates events for safety and security considerations and collaborates with the client, facility managers, UW Parking Services, UW Facilities Services, the Seattle Police Department and other state and federal agencies to provide safety and security services on the UW campus. This may include staffing the event with uniformed or plainclothes police officers, uniformed security staff or dignitary security when appropriate.
