Notification of Criminal Incident – Seattle Campus

This message is sent in the interest of public safety and in compliance with federal law requiring timely warning notification of crimes committed on or near campus. This is not a UW Alert message. On Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, at 5:45 p.m. Seattle police responded to the area of the 4700 block of University Way NE to a report of a carjacking. A man returned to his car after picking up food. After getting into his car, two men opened the door and pulled him from the vehicle. One of the men pointed a knife at the victim and the other man tased the victim on the right leg. The first suspect left the area walking northbound on University Way NE. The second suspect got into the vehicle and left the area southbound on University Way NE. The victim could not recall which suspect tased him but said the first suspect pointed the knife at him. The victim declined medical attention.
Suspect #1 was described as male with a heavy build and dark hair, wearing a brown hoodie and dark pants. He was armed with a knife.
Suspect #2 was described as male with a slim build and dark hair, wearing dark clothing.
The stolen vehicle was a silver 2003 Toyota Corolla, WA license plate: BZR6300.

• Avoid confrontations whenever possible.
• Remove yourself from potentially dangerous situations as soon as possible.
If you suspect criminal activity, some helpful information to pass on to the police:
• Clothing descriptors: Look for layers under the visible layer and other distinctive identifiers
• Physical characteristics: Describe height, weight, eyes, hair, mannerisms, scars/tattoos.
• Direction of travel (by foot or automobile): Describe the last known location of the suspect.
• Suspect vehicle description: color, year, model, make and license plate.
• Any weapons involved.
