Fingerprinting

Services

The University of Washington Police Department offers limited fingerprinting services on-site (3939 NE 15th Ave, Seattle, WA).  Our personnel will fingerprint only UW students, staff, and faculty for employment, certifications, various licenses, and more.

 

Fingerprint services for Concealed Pistol License is not available at UWPD and we ONLY offer ink fingerprinting.

Note that, processing of the completed fingerprint card is the responsibility of the fingerprint client.

Scheduling an appointment

  • Call the UWPD at 206-543-0507 during business hours: {Monday—Friday  8:30 a.m.—12:00 p.m. | 1:00 p.m.—4:30 p.m.} to schedule an appointment.
  • Fingerprint fees are collected prior to fingerprinting and the acceptable payment methods are CASH ONLY or University of Washington budget number transfer (payment). Individuals will receive a receipt and should retain it until the fingerprint service is complete.
  • You must bring valid picture identification with you (driver’s license or passport). Your University of Washington Husky photo ID is not acceptable.

The Front Office contacts all scheduled appointments the business day prior for confirmation.

Thursdays:   1:30 p.m.—4:00 p.m.

Requirements

What to bring

  • Valid picture identification (driver’s license or passport)
    • UW Husky photo ID is NOT acceptable
  • Payment: cash only or University of Washington budget number transfer (payment)

We will not print you if:

  • You have a fresh wound or cut to your fingers. Please let your hands and fingers heal.
  • You have a broken arm or broken wrist (as we need full range of motion).

Preparation

Fingerprint cards

  • If you were provided with fingerprint cards, please keep them flat – do not fold them.
  • Cards will be provided if you do not have one.  We supply the standard FD-258 FBI Applicant card.
  • If your fingerprint cards need to be mailed by us, you must provide the envelope and postage for mailing.

Getting a good print
To get a good print, it is important that your hands are hydrated:

  • Drink lots of water.
  • Use hand lotion.
  • Avoid excessive hand washing, use of hand sanitizers or other activities that dry out your hands.
