The Technical Services Director heads this division and reports directly to the Chief of Police. This division includes our Communications Center (police dispatching), Geographic Information System (GIS) support, Information Technology (IT) support and the Records Unit.
UW Communications Center (police dispatch) is a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). Our professional dispatchers screen 911 emergency and non-emergency calls and ensure the response of appropriate resources to maintain the safety and well-being of our campus community. We staff the center 24 hours per day, every day of the year. To reach our dispatch center in an emergency, please call 911, or 206.685.UWPD (8973) for non-emergencies.
Geo Information Systems (GIS) & Information Technology (IT) Support
Our computer specialists provide support for the technology within the department, including our Records Management and Computer Aided Dispatch software (CAD/RMS), Mobile Data Computers (MDCs) in the patrol vehicles and the necessary servers to support our law enforcement functionality.
We also coordinate with the UW addressing committee to provide assistance with building addresses in Seattle. Please use this form to request a physical address be assigned to your building or area.
The Records Unit maintains all law enforcement incident reports, accident reports and citations. This unit routinely responds to public records requests from such diverse groups as the media, NFL scouts, other law enforcement agencies and the public. Additionally, we also provide background checks, performs all the data entry for our Records Management System, updates our 60-Day Crime Log and supplies the department’s crime data to the FBI.
