Campus Security Advisory Committee
The Campus Security Advisory Committee, established in 1991 (RCW 28B.10.569), examines campus security and safety issues and makes suggestions for improvement. Early task force members included University of Washington administration, faculty, staff, recognized student organizations and the police department. The Committee now also includes representation from UW Bothell, UW Tacoma and the University Park Community Club. The law requiring the establishment of this group was repealed in 2012. Because the police department and the community benefit from this collaboration, the committee has continued their work.
The Committee meets on the second Tuesday of every other month at 9:30 a.m. at the UW Police Department, Multi-Purpose Room. Chaired by the UW Police Chief, the UW Campus Security Advisory Committee meets to review crime trends, policies and procedures, recent events and potential security concerns.
